Industrial Information Technology

Our research

At the Chair of Industrial Information Technology, we develop future-oriented technologies, methods and organizational approaches to comprehensively support product development in companies, from the product idea to product development and simulation through to production planning and the digital factory. Our aim is full digitalization of the product development process.

Our technological focus is on developing methods and software tools, especially for digital mock-up (DMU), virtual reality (VR), computer aided applications (CAx), product life-cycle management (PDM/PLM) and collaborative engineering. This also includes developing and using software tools for early product development phases as well as innovative organization, communication, and information systems.

Our research activities are combined into five areas which also reflect our strategic focus. They serve both as a professional exchange platform for our staff as well as interfaces to relevant scientific communities. The inter-project character of the research content also enables us to network project results and doctoral topics and opens up opportunities to exploit synergies in the field.
