2nd National Expert Forum on Water Extremes

2nd National Expert Forum on Water Extremes

Drought summers, crop losses, falling river levels, dried-up forests - water scarcity is an issue that is also playing an increasingly important role in Germany in view of advancing climate change. In order to best counter the effects on various areas of private and public life and to increase societal resilience, close cooperation between research and practice as well as an interdisciplinary exchange between the individual actors is indispensable. For this reason, the Klimahaus Bremerhaven, in cooperation with the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, the Helmholtz Research Network Regional Climate Change and Humans (REKLIM), the German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV) and the German Meteorological Service (DWD), organised the second National Expert Forum on Water Extremes. This year, the focus was on extreme drought and its consequences.
