Philipp Hengel

Philipp Hengel has become a research fellow at the Department of Health Care Management in May 2021, after he graduated as a Master of Science in Public Health at Berlin School of Public Health. Prior to that he did a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare and Nursing Management at Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin. During his studies, Philipp has worked for about three years as a student assistant at the department.

Philipp’s research focuses primarily on health system performance assessment. In his thesis, he studied the financial risk protection of the privately insured in Germany. Currently, Philipp is part of the IPHA project, exploring the performance of the German health system from the population’s perspective, and HSPA, in which the first systematic health system performance assessment for Germany is being piloted for the Federal Ministry of Health. He also works on a project assessing the status quo and future developments of health care provision in the internal medicine in Germany.
