The many players in University teaching - from instructors to the vice president
Ultimate responsibility for teaching at Technische Universität Berlin lies with the vice president of education, who is assisted in their work by Student Services and Strategic Controlling.
Faculty Boards
Deans of studies
Degree program coordinators
The degree program coordinators in each faculty have a number of responsibilities including correctly implementing study and examination regulations, ensuring courses and modules can be offered, approving teaching assignments, updating documents required in the degree program, coordinating the further development of the degree program, and regularly organizing and staging teaching conferences. Together with Strategic Controlling, the coordinators also organize the implementation of the degree program evaluation process.

Advisors for studies and teaching
The advisors for studies and teaching in each faculty are the main point of contact for issues concerning the organization and content of teaching and academics. They are also responsible for collaborating with other key actors to develop and implement measures to improve teaching quality while also ensuring guidelines for course design and examinations are observed and that academic content reflects the current demands of the professional world.
Evaluation officers
Teaching staff
Lectures, seminars, tutorials, and other teaching formats would be not possible without the commitment and dedication of our professors, teaching assistants, tutors, and international visiting scholars. These individuals are essential to the University’s teaching. Their specialist knowledge, teaching skills, and personalities are a significant and positive contribution to our high quality of teaching. All teaching staff are required to conduct course evaluations.
Examination boards
Each degree program at TU Berlin has its own examination board responsible for ensuring that examination regulations are observed. It is also responsible for the organization of examinations, recognition of study periods as well as previous study credits and exams, drawing up the list of examiners and observers, and for taking decisions about suitable examination conditions for students with a longterm or permanent physical disability or impairment.
Teaching Committee
The Teaching Committee advises on the establishment and discontinuation of degree programs. It evaluates the study and examination regulations submitted by the faculties/joint committees taking into account existing framework guidelines and statutory requirements. The Teaching Committee also delivers an opinion on support for academic reform projects, project laboratories, and innovation tutorials, while the final decision regarding such support is taken by the vice president. It actively contributes to academic reform and advises on the preparation of guidelines and regulations for the development of degree programs.
