It is foreseeable that 6G will play a key role in the accelerated digitization for the purpose of sustainability and the implementation of climate policy goals.

Therefore, the goal of "Open 6G Hub" project is to provide contributions to a global 6G harmonization process and standard in the European context, which takes into account German interests in terms of our social priorities, while protecting the competitiveness of our companies and our technological sovereignty as well as the Position of Germany and Europe strengthened in the international competition for 6G.

Initially, the 17 project partners involved are looking at application scenarios in the connected factory, rural areas, and agriculture. Open6GHub is coordinated by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern.

The technical-scientific goals of the Open 6G Hub are the result of the analysis of different sources (social and user requirements, new technological options, new business enablers, global trends) as well as a first jointly developed vision and resulting requirements.

The Open 6G Hub sees 6G even more than 5G as a key technology for the sustainable digitization of society and the economy. Societal requirements will play a central role in 6G design.
