Internships

The master’s program does not require students to complete an internship. Students can benefit from a number of excursions as well as the professional and academic experience and networks of their lecturers to develop contacts to companies offering internships, and thus organize their own work experience during their studies (preferably during semester breaks).

Stays abroad

You have the option of organizing your own study-related stay abroad. The program is designed to provide you with an opportunity to do so in an academic mobility period in either the second or preferably third semester, whether you are studying full-time or part-time. Individual guidance is available to help you plan your stay abroad.

Acquired skills

The master’s program teaches the skills and knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient building management to engineers, architects, economists, and professionals working in research, universities, companies, planning offices, and public authorities. You acquire specialist knowledge in areas such as project management (including fundamentals of project management, modeling of construction data), and the energy efficiency of buildings (including the physics of building envelopes, hydraulic systems, energy generation, calculation methods for energy audits) and will also participate in an interdisciplinary project (using an existing construction project). You also examine the design and structures of buildings in the urban environment - modification for sustainability and energy management, innovation and technology management, and the integration of renewable energies. The master’s program teaches a wide range of theories, methods, and skills to enable you to understand, take account of, adapt, and implement a range of solutions to achieve sustainability. These skills are essential for every construction or real estate project seeking to incorporate energy efficiency and other aspects of sustainability, as well as to achieve a good balance between economic, social, ecological, and cultural considerations.

After your studies

The master’s program qualifies you for a career in real estate project planning and management. In addition to teaching theory, the program also places great value on interdisciplinary group projects. As such, the program is particularly suitable for the next generation of management in international companies.
