Methods of Geoinformation Science

Research Profile

The tasks of the chair Methods of Geoinformation Science include the modelling, acquisition, processing, analysis and presentation of spatial data. The development of methods for spatial modelling, algorithms, data acquisition and integration, 3D geodatabases, visualisation, geodata infrastructures and selected aspects of telematics occupy the most important place. Current and longer-term challenges are the area-wide transition from the use of two-dimensional to three-dimensional geodata and the consideration of time as the fourth dimension. Further research topics are the automated acquisition of 3D building and city models and the integration of uncertain, fuzzy and redundant geometric information into geoinformation systems.
