Career

  • Graduated as chemical-technical assistant (CTA) with advanced technical college entrance qualification; Oberstufenzentrum for chemistry, physics and biology - Berlin
  • Before 1999:
    • Technischer Überwachungsverein (TÜV), heavy metal analysis (ICP and AAS)
    • Society for Hydrogeology and Environmental Protection (GHU), heavy metal analysis (ICP and AAS)
  • Since 07/1999: Employed as CTA at the Institute for Applied Geosciences
  •  2016: Scholarship holder of the TU Berlin in the Staff Mobility Programme at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of laboratory practicals
  • Laboratory instruction for: Bachelor - Master students, doctoral students and visiting scientists
  • Safety officer in the department

Sample preparation and analysis:

  • X-ray diffraction (XRD): texture preparations (clay mineral analysis), powder measurements
  • X-ray fluorescence (XRF): melt and powder tablets
  • Separation methods: Sieving, Atterberg cylinder, centrifuge, hydrometer, laser particle analyser, magnetic separator, heavy mineral separation
  • Production of thin sections, polished sections and mounts
