The Chair for Coating Technology is engaged in the area of thermal spraying technology, deposition welding, thin-film technology and surface technology. State-of-the-art technology in combination with process analytics enable both basic research and industry-oriented research. Science focuses on the entire coating process chain, from materials development and individual production technologies to quality analysis. Coating thickness ranges from a few micrometres to several centimetres are covered. Typical areas of application for metal, ceramic and cermet coatings are the aviation and automotive industries, mechanical engineering, energy technology and the chemical industry.
