Module "Intercultural Basic Qualification"

For all TUB students

 

The world keeps getting more closely linked and the borders between cultures become indistinct:

Intercultural competence is the key qualification for experts and executives in the 21st century.

During the one-week intensive seminar in the semester break you will get a basic understanding of intercultural communication and cooperation in order to find your way on an international professional field. The seminar consists of application exercises and theoretical basics and focuses on practical relevance.

Note: In winter semester 23/24 the block seminar will take place on-site presence only.

Free choice module for all TUB students

Cost: no fee

Language: German or English

Format: on-site presence

Credit: 3 ECTS free choice or additional module incl. certificate of attendance for application documents

Registration for the exam: On February 19, 2024, you will receive information on how to register for the exam via Moses/MTS in the ISIS course.

Module organization

The module has 3 parts:

1. Online phase ISIS (asynchronous): 19.02.2024 - 10.03.2024

  • There will be no sessions during these three weeks.
  • During this period, 2-3 small tasks will be given via the ISIS course.
  • You will have free time to work on them.

2. Compact seminar on-site presence: 11.03.2024 - 14.03.2024 (9:00 to 17:00, compulsory attendance)

3. Exam on-site presence:

  • 1st date: March 26, 2024, 11 am -12 pm, Room H 0110
  • 2nd date: to be announced

The exam will be assessed with “pass” or “fail” only (without grade).

  • Knowledge in cultural and communicational sciences regarding intercultural communication and cooperation

  • Tools and strategies of successful intercultural communication and cooperation
  • Application examples for intercultural communication and cooperation during your studies

  • Raising cultural awareness and developing sensitivity for empathy
  • Strategical knowledge about requirements, stipulations, organization, and execution of stays abroad during your studies
