Course Overview

Conversion Technologies of Renewable Energies I & II is taught and completed in one semester. Consequently, only one written exam is offered on both parts. The module is offered in the summer and winter semesters. The course is offered in German.

  • Energy production from biomass: thermochemical conversion (pyrolysis, gasification, combustion), physicochemical conversion (grinding, pelletizing, agglomeration), biochemical conversion (bioethanol, biogas) 
  • Hydroelectric power 
  • Tidal energy 
  • Wind energy 
  • Geothermal energy 
  • Thermal loads and heat pumps 
  • Electric loads 
  • Electric grid 
  • Energy storage (short and long term)
     

Conversion Technologies for Renewable Energies II

  • PV  
  • Solar thermal 
  • Sector coupling (mobility, power-to-X, etc.) 
  • Digitalization 
  • Current legal framework in Germany 
  • Energy market 
  • Economic efficiency
