Range of Modules on Social Topics

A) Digitalization and Society

Today, it's hard to imagine life without computers and the Internet. We live in an increasingly networked world: digitalization is in full swing and affects us all. It influences all areas of life and work and presents both the individual and society with new challenges. Digital transformation holds great potential and opportunities, but also risks and dangers.

How is digitalization changing our lives and our actions? What impact does it have on society? What does it take to act in a digitally responsible and sustainable way?

Under "Module Offerings" you will find a current selection of modules that fit thematically into the area of "Digitalization and Society". The overview serves the purpose of bundling these offerings and making them visible to interested parties. In addition, the focus is on the development of information and communications technology and its impact on society, for example in dealing with data privacy, data security and big data.

B) Sustainability and Social Responsibility

The consequences of global warming and the scarcity of water and oil are warning signals that make it clear: Sustainable and responsible thinking and action in a wide variety of areas are essential in order to preserve the environment and natural resources for future generations. Sustainability means taking responsibility: Every individual should develop a future-oriented awareness of the impact their actions have on their environment. The following selection of modules covers a range of topics from renewable energies to sustainable tourism. Through a scientific examination of the topics, students gain important specialist knowledge and approaches to thinking and acting that make them aware of the consequences of their actions in these areas (and beyond). This knowledge is not only relevant for their further studies, but also for their career and everyday life.

Berlin Ethics Certificate

How can we ensure that new technologies do not reproduce old power structures? What are the values and visions for responsible futures? Who needs to work together to ensure that technical developments are in line with ethical values? These and other questions are the focus of the certificate program "Reflection and Responsibility - Berlin Ethics Certificate" at TU Berlin.  The interdisciplinary certificate is aimed at students of all degree programs (Bachelor and Master).

Project Laboratories and tu projects

Project laboratories and tu projects
When students take over teaching. At TU Berlin, this is possible - in so-called "project workshops for socially and ecologically useful thinking and action" and "tu projects".
