Process Dynamics and Operations

Process Simulation

Based on process and plant dynamics (process modeling), process simulation deals with the numerical solution of complex process engineering models. First, the modularization of models is discussed, then strategies for solving steady-state flowsheet simulation problems are discussed and finally the transition to dynamic process simulation is considered. The focus is always on strategies for initialization and numerical solution as well as side views on numerical mathematics. During the semester, students work in groups on an application task from process engineering in order to apply the acquired knowledge in a practical way. Two thirds of this assignment are included in the overall grade.
