d|b|t|a alumni meeting 2022

On October 14, we celebrated the second d|b|t|a alumni meeting. On this day, all former members of our research group - professors, research assistants, technicians, lab and IT staff, secretaries - are invited to return and spend the day with us. Due to the pandemic, we had to postpone the event for more than two years and we were obviously very happy to finally have this follow-up event in person at the Technische Universität Berlin.

We kicked off the meeting with plenary talks by some of our alumni from industry and academia, which were moderated by Jens-Uwe Repke:

  • Patrick Schiffmann presented an overview of current membrane developments at Linde Engineering
  • David Müller gave insights into current digitization efforts, challenges, and opportunities at Evonik
  • Jan Schöneberger outlined his future research goals as newly appointed professor for Sustainable Process Engineering at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences Berlin (BHT)
  • Our colleague Joris Weigert introduced the participants to our current activities in machine learning and data science.

We thank all speakers for their interesting presentations

𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, our PhD students presented their research in short elevator pitches and discussed current challenges. Then, the alumni toured our lab facilities to take a look at the available test rigs and miniplants.

We concluded the day with a great get-together in a restaurant near Charlottenburg Palace during which remaining questions were answered and new ideas were discussed. Of course, there was also time for an excellent buffet and one or two beers...

We would like to thank all participating alumni for their interest in our research and the continuous scientific exchange!
Also, we would like to thank the event organizers Karsten Duch and Volodymyr Kozachynskyi!

We hope to see you at the next alumni meeting (probably in 2025 - fingers crossed)!

P.S.: Are you an alumni of d|b|t|a, but you were unaware of the event? Then you may not be enrolled in our alumni mailing list. If you would like to be added, please contact us at sekr(at)dbta.tu-berlin.de!

Organization of event: Gesellschaft für Wissens- und Technologietransfer (GWT-TUD GmbH)
