Institute of Chemistry

Research Profile

Our diverse research projects not only examine catalysis from different perspectives but also make important contributions to the following:

  • Storing and transforming energy
  • Elucidating structures, reaction mechanisms, and biosynthesis pathways
  • Synthesizing and charactering solids and functional materials
  • Synthetic molecular chemistry
  • Application-oriented chemical engineering and material science
  • Developing computer-supported methods and simulations

Our aim is to find efficient ways of converting materials and energy that conserve resources as much as possible. You can find an overview of our current research on our project page as well as under our divisions and their academic chairs.

The Institute of Chemistry is also interested in the rapid transfer of research results from the laboratory for economic and social use. You can read about two such initiatives on our Transfer page.
