Katzensprung 2.0

Katzensprung 2.0 follows on from the pilot project “Katzensprung. Kleine Wege. Große Erlebnisse“ which ran from 2017 until 2020. The project focuses on creating and further developing attractive and climate-friendly offers in German tourism. A further goal is to make information about these offers available to a broad target group. The main content of Katzensprung 2.0 is the expansion and implementation of the partner program "Active for nature parks and climate protection" in 20 model nature parks. The goal is to expand this to a total of 104 nature parks following the project. This will create new approaches for climate-friendly tourism in regional networks.

The project "Katzensprung 2.0 - active for climate protection in German tourism" strengthens the commitment of small businesses to sustainable tourism by awarding them the title of "Nature Park Partner." Participating organizations are also given the opportunity to acquire further qualifications through training and to position themselves as climate protection partners.

Katzensprung 2.0 is supported by Verband Deutscher Naturparke e.V. (Association of German Nature Parks) in cooperation with Technische Universität Berlin (Institute of Vocational Education and Work Studies / Chair of Education for Sustainable Nutrition and Food Science), FH Münster (iSuN - Institute for Sustainable Nutrition) and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.

Within the modular training series, TU Berlin offers a training on climate-friendly catering to communicate relevant results of current scientific studies. The aim is to enable the partner businesses of the nature park to create sustainable and climate-friendly food offers. This is done through sustainability assessment, optimizing existing recipes and creating and implementing new offers.

This must be optimally communicated in out-of-home gastronomy using various information and “nudging” measures to achieve greater acceptance for new and climate-friendly dishes. Climate protection is at the heart of a comprehensive sustainability assessment - including health and the social aspects of the dishes offered.

Katzensprung 2.0 is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety as part of the National Climate Initiative (NKI). The project runs for three years.
