SyncLab - Creating synergies between lab- and sychrotronbased X-ray analysis

New joint research group‚ Combined X-ray methods at BLiX and BESSY II - SyncLab ‘

The new joint research group - SyncLab - between the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Energie und Materialien (HZB) and the Berlin laboratory for innovative X-ray technologies (BLiX) at the TU Berlin has been established. Led by Prof. Birgit Kanngießer the group will analyse synergies between X-ray experiments which are performed in the laboratory and experiments which are only possible at large scale facilities, such as the Synchrotron radiation source BESSY II of the HZB. Knowledge and technology transfer from the synchrotron to the laboratory and back within joint projects is envisioned. In a first step, the concept will be evaluated with near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy in the soft X-ray region. In the future additional analytical and imaging X-ray techniques will follow.
