A new research group between the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Energie und Materialien (HZB) and the Berlin laboratory for innovative X-ray technologies (BLiX) at TU Berlin has been established. Under the leadership of Prof. Birgit Kanngießer, starting in summer 2020, joint work will be carried out to investigate synergies between X-ray experiments that are feasible in the laboratory and experiments that are only established at large-scale research facilities such as HZB's synchrotron radiation source BESSY II. Furthermore, the transfer of knowledge and technology from the synchrotron to the laboratory and back again is aimed at through joint projects. The research group will initially focus on evaluating the concept using X-ray near-edge spectroscopy in the soft X-ray range. Other analytical and imaging X-ray methods will follow in the future.
