
The research of the Department of Audio Communication is dedicated to the communication of music and speech in acoustic or electroacoustic systems. This includes topics such as electroacoustic recording, playback and reproduction technologies, the realization of virtual acoustic realities and 3D audio using binaural technology or sound field synthesis, technologies for the composition and realization of electroacoustic music and sound art, and empirical approaches to the study of musical interaction and music reception. Typically, these are interdisciplinary studies ranging from the humanities and cultural studies to the social sciences, psychology, computer science, and engineering.
