PhD Projekt

Virtual reality-based applications for the assessment and remediation of spatial processing disorders

This doctoral project will empirically investigate the feasibility of virtual reality-based applications to aid in the diagnosis and remediation of spatial processing disorders. The aim is to investigate whether state-of-the-art headphone-based dynamic binaural presentation, together with consumer-grade stand-alone head-mounted displays, is a suitable, cost-effective, and portable alternative to traditional assessment and auditory training setups and protocols. It will objectively evaluate the specificity of VR-based alternatives and delineate their potential to support tele-audiology, thereby increasing equity of access to hearing care across geographic borders and improving the quality of care for audiological patients.
