PhD Project

On the visual influence on the acoustic impression of a room.

Would the acoustic impression of a venue be different with different lighting conditions? What colour should a music studio be? Is the acoustic impression of a space independent of its visual elements?

The main objective of this study is to investigate the contribution of audiovisual associations regarding brightness, colour, light and visual position in the field of acoustics. By analysing the subjective evaluation of virtual and real spaces, we hope to shed light on the influence of the above-mentioned visual aspects on the acoustic impression of space. This work may also provide important insights for psychoacoustics, musicology and music cognition.
