The aim of the one to two semester lab course is to provide a broad overview of the physical principles and the most important measurement techniques, primarily in the field of solid state physics.
The experiments are carried out exclusively on research equipment that is the subject of current research. These are made available by the Institute of Solid State Physics as well as by other (non-university) research facilities.
The two parts (AP I and II) can be completed independently of each other.
The lab course is a compulsory subject for the application-oriented degree in physics. It can also be taken as an (experimental) optional subject. We currently offer one large course with 12 ECTS points per module and one with reduced workload and 9 ECTS points.
Prerequisite for participation is an existing degree as Bachelor Sc. and an existing matriculation for a master's degree. Successful participation in the "Experimental Physics V" course is advised.
The lab course is carried out in groups of 2 participants and lasts approx. 4 hours per session. The number of participants is limited by the number of sessions per week.
The module is currently available in two variants:
Registration is by email to the address srodt@physik.tu-berlin.de
The following information must be provided:
Registration deadline is October 16th, 2023
The lab course will be carried out as a face-to-face event as long as the official policies allow this.
The applicable hygiene, distance and safety regulations must be observed.
Kick-off meeting and group assembly: Tuesday, 17.10.2023, 14:15 - 15:45, room EW 431
The instructions can be found in time in a download list. This requires a password. It is recommended to download the respective instructions shortly before the experiment, as changes/adjustments to the setup at short notice may result in modifications to the script.
