Lab course "Methods of Applied Physics I/II"

The aim of the one to two semester lab course is to provide a broad overview of the physical principles and the most important measurement techniques, primarily in the field of solid state physics.

The experiments are carried out exclusively on research equipment that is the subject of current research. These are made available by the Institute of Solid State Physics as well as by other (non-university) research facilities.

The two parts (AP I and II) can be completed independently of each other.

The lab course is a compulsory subject for the application-oriented degree in physics. It can also be taken as an (experimental) optional subject. We currently offer one large course with 12 ECTS points per module and one with reduced workload and 9 ECTS points.

Prerequisite for participation is an existing degree as Bachelor Sc. and an existing matriculation for a master's degree. Successful participation in the "Experimental Physics V" course is advised.

The lab course is carried out in groups of 2 participants and lasts approx. 4 hours per session. The number of participants is limited by the number of sessions per week.

The module is currently available in two variants:

  1. with 12 ECTS points for the applied field of study consisting of the regular lecture and the lab course
  2. with 9 ECTS points as an experimental optional subject for the other fields of study consisting of the regular lecture and the lab course with a reduced workload

Registration is by email to the address srodt@physik.tu-berlin.de
