Library of the Year 2022: TU Berlin and UdK university libraries win national award

The university libraries of Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) and the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) have been jointly declared Library of the Year 2022. The award, which is worth 20,000 euros, is the only national library prize in Germany and is awarded jointly by the German Library Association (dbv) and Deutsche Telekom Stiftung. It aims to strengthen the image of libraries in our digital world and recognizes libraries of all types and sizes.

The TU Berlin and UdK libraries share a long tradition of cooperation as well as a building on Campus Charlottenburg.

“We are delighted to receive this award, which recognizes the work of all our library staff and really makes clear to us the benefits of a joint infrastructure as well as sharing ideas and resources. The prize serves to consolidate our cooperation on our path to success, in particular the further development of our innovative digital offers,” say Andrea Zeyns, director of the UdK Library, and Jürgen Christof, director of the TU Berlin Library.

The Library of the Year award ceremony will take place on German Library Day, 24 October, in Berlin.

The University Library is TU Berlin’s central information resource. It supports all members of the University in their studies, teaching and research. The University Library consists of the Central Library (Fasanenstraße 88), the Physics Department Library, the Architecture and Art Studies Department Library, and the University Press as well as the University Archives, the Architekturmuseum and the German Horticultural Library.

The UdK University Library is at located at three sites and consists of: the University Library (Fasanenstraße 88), a branch office for borrowing instruments and orchestral material as well as UdK Publications with bookbinding facilities.
