TU Campus El Gouna

Technische Universität Berlin also has a campus in El Gouna, Egypt. Located directly on the Red Sea, it forms part of the El Gouna holiday destination. The popular tourist center Hurghada is just 25 kilometers from El Gouna and can be easily reached by bus. Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is located 460 kilometers to the north.

The town of El Gouna is constructed around an artificial lagoon and is currently home to some 20,000 inhabitants. TU Campus El Gouna was opened in 2012. Five master's programs are taught there. The campus has an area of 10,000 square meters and is equipped with a main lecture hall, three further lecture halls, seminar rooms, offices, an exhibition space, state-of-the-art labs for research on water management and renewable energies as well as a cafeteria and two open-air courtyards for events. Accommodation is provided for students in dorms.

El Gouna is a paradise for sports activities: Golf, riding, tennis, cycling, football, basketball and a whole range of water sports, such as sailing and snorkeling, are on offer. And: El Gouna is also an international hotspot for kite surfers. For other recreational activities, there is an open air cinema as well as a wide range of restaurants, bars, cafés and plenty of shopping. El Gouna has hosted a film festival since 2017.

Cairo Office

The TU Berlin liaison office in Cairo promotes cooperation in science and research with Egypt and the entire MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). It is the first point of contact for students and researchers in the region interested in studying at or working with Technische Universität Berlin or its El Gouna campus. The liaison office is located in the heart of Cairo on the premises of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), very close to the German embassy and just 45 minutes from Cairo airport.
