I studied electrical engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg in Germany from 1992 to 1997. After this I spent three years at the University of Glasgow in Scotland at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Centre of Rehabilitation Engineering working towards my PhD thesis Feedback Control of Cycling in Spinal Cord Injury using Functional Electrical Stimulation. From December 2001 until April 2006 I have been working as research assistant and project leader at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems (Magdeburg, Germany) in the Systems and Control Theory Group. Since 2006 I am holding a position as senior researcher in the Control Systems Group headed by Prof. Jörg Raisch at the Technische Universität Berlin. In this group I manage the research focuses "Controlled Neuro-Stimulation for Rehabilitation” and “Vibration Control and Energy Harvesting for Hybrid Structures”. I am co-founder of the start-up SensorStim Neurotechnology GmbH.
