TitleOuter bounds on the capacity of K-user Gaussian interference channel  

ABSTRACT: In this talk, we will consider a very recent result in network information theory. The capacity region of the even two-user Gaussian interference channel is a long-standing open problem and, so far, outer bounds for the K-user case have been little known. Based on our capacity bounds, we wish to demythologize the well-known K/2 degrees of freedom (DoF) results in finite SNR regime. One may find that the new bounds are constructive to get some insights into which scheme and which regime in terms of channel gains should be paid more attention to at reasonable SNR.

About Mr. Junyoung Nam

Junyoung Nam received the B.Sc. in statistics from Inha University, Incheon, Korea, in 1997, the M.Sc. in electrical engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea, in 2008, and will receive his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at KAIST this spring. He was with the Communications R&D Center, Samsung Electronics, Korea, from 1997 to 2002. He was also in Communications Lab., Seodu InChip, from 2002 to 2006. In Summer 2006, he joined the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, and is currently a senior member of research staff.  His research interests are in the areas of wireless communications, information theory, cellular system design, and standardization in 3GPP.
