Biotechnologically produced food and feed additives and probiotics contribute to a healthy and sustainable nutrition.
Often, the production processes have been known for a long time, but were not used in industrial production due to a lack of reproducible quality, inefficient processes and insufficient optimization.
We aim to discover parameters that can support the reproducible production of cells and their components in mono- and co-cultures with various feedstock.
In particular, the accumulation of polyunsatured fatty acids in heterotrophically grown algae and in oleogenous yeast is in the focus as well as lactic acid bacteria and their response to production-related stress.
