Visit at the Mansoura University, Egypt.

From 29.11.2019 to 08.12.2019 Prof. Dietmar Stephan and his research group members (Dr. Pawel Sikora and PhD candidate Szymon Mądraszewski) visited Mansoura University in Egypt within GE-SEED research project entitled: “Reducing energy consumption in buildings by developing sustainable environmental friendly lightweight concrete”. GE-SEED project is a bilateral research initiative funded both by DAAD and STDF towards establishing the international cooperation between German and Egyptian scientific institutes.

During this stay Prof. Dietmar Stephan and his research group have been introduced to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Vice-Rector of the Mansoura University. Furthermore, Professor Stephan gave a speech for academics and students of the Faculty of Engineering of Mansoura University about TU Berlin and some of his research topics. Afterwards, Prof. Stephan participated in a meeting of Dakahlia Governorate Engineers Syndicate where he presented practical implications of research work done at TU Berlin.

Beside visit at Mansoura University, the group also visited other Egyptian universities. Prof. Stephan gave a speech about Geopolymer as an Alternative to Ordinary Portland Cement at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) in Alexandria, while Dr. Pawel Sikora gave speech about Advanced Cementitious Composites Containing Nanoparticles at the German University in Cairo. Moreover, on 7th of December the entire group was participating in the Green Chemistry for Sustainability scientific workshop in Cairo organized by Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, where Professor Stephan presented his invited lecture about Geopolymer and alkali activated binders for green concrete.
